Overview


 

Start from the center of Lhasa city which brings Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and other regular sites for travelers and after that go eastwards to Nyingchi, along the way you will see the Great Cypress Nature Reserve and Lulang forest Area. on the back way, you will head along the banks of Yarlung Zangbo River to Tsedang, which is reputed as the cradle of Tibetan Civilization.

Daily Itinerary


 

Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa
 

No matter you reach Lhasa by train or airplane, your guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. On the way, Clients may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River/ Brahmaputra river (the Longest and largest river in Tibet) and the Lhasa river.

 

After arrival at your hotel, the rest of the day is totally yours. You can choose to take a rest to adapt to the high altitude. Or you can go out to explore the local area directly.




Day 2 Lhasa City Tour - Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B, D)
 

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel, and bring you to the Potala Palace which is the symbol of Tibet, built in 641AD, it is also the winter palace of the Dalai lama.

 

After lunch, we will go head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. It was the spiritual center of Tibet, pilgrims from every place of Tibet will trek here, making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is the famous Barkhor Street, where you can enjoy the traditional Tibetan tea and or buy some special souvenirs for your family members.




Day 3 Lhasa City Tour - Drepung, Sera Monastery (B)
 

In the morning, you will visit Drepung monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, it has more than 500 years history as the largest monastery in the world, the famous annual Shoton Festival, is also set here, and during this festival they will exhibit the precious huge Thangka.

 

In the Afternoon, Tourists will visit another outstanding Gelug Monastery--Sera Monastery. The most important attention point is the famous Monks Scriptures debate at around 3 - 5 in the afternoon.




Day 4 Lhasa to Nyingchi (B)
 

Today we will drive along the No. 318 National Highway from Lhasa to Nyingchi, we will firstly drive over the Mila Pass (5013M), and then we will head to the Basomtso Lake, unlike other holy lakes in Tibet, Basongcuo (also known as Caogao Lake) is completely surrounded by lush primitive forests.


Basongtso is Emerald green without impurities, like a light jade. The lake is clear enough to see fish swimming within two or three meters. and around the Lake is endless snow-covered mountains. After that, we will continue driving to Bayi Town.





Day 5 Nyingchi Day Tour (B)
 

Today we will go to see the Giant Cypress firstly, and later we will drive to Seji la pass (4515m) and take the far view of the Great Mt. Nanjia Bawa (7782m) then we will continually go towards to the Lulang Forest which is a typical plateau mountain meadow narrow zone, its both sides are composed of shrubs and dense spruce and pine trees.




Day 6 Nyingchi to Tsedang (B)
 

Get up in the morning, and set out to Tsedang, today is a tough day as we will spend around 7-8 hours on the way to our destination, you can prepare some snacks and movies to make the driving time more comfortable.

 

Day 7 Tsedang Day Tour (B)
 

After breakfast, we are going to visit the Yumbu Lhakhang and the Trandruk.

 

Yongbrakang: It is the first palace in Tibetan history. It has a history of more than 2100 years. The size of the temple is very small, but it is very magnificent. Standing on the highest tower on the mountain, you can have a good view of the Yalong Valley and the countryside.

 

TrandrukTemple: Pearl Tangka the treasure of Chuangzhu Temple, is also a rare treasure in the world. The whole Tangka is 2 meters long and 1.2 meters wide. Made by one diamond, two rubies, one sapphire, 0.55 grams purple rubies, 0.91grams Turquoise (185), 15.5 grams gold and 4.1 grams coralIt,it is really not easy to preserve such kind of valuable Thangka




Day 8 Tsedang --Samye (B)
 

After breakfast, we will head to visit Samye Monastery, which is the first Buddhism monastery in Tibet built in the 7th century. And then we are going to visit the Practice Green Park and do some leisure meditation there on your own.


The Practice Green Park is surrounded with three sides mountains, and the south side mountain is facing the wide valley of Yarlung Zangbo River, the view is very magnificent with dense vegetation and streams, as the winter at here is not too cold, and the summer at here is not too hot, the climate of whole year is contrasting comfortable, that is probably the reason why many eminent monks take it as a holy place for self-cultivation. Later, we will drive to Tsedang in the afternoon.





Day 9 Tsedang to Gyantse (B)
 

Today, we will head to Gyantse. On the way, we will firstly pass over the Gampala pass (4790 m), and tourists will have a glance of the fairytale holy Yamdrok lake. Tourists can get spectacular views of Holy Mount Nojin Khangsar and the Jade-Green lake. Later, we continuously go westward to Gyantse. Gyantse was historically Tibet's third-largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse).




Day 10 Gyantse to Shigatse (B)
 

After breakfast, we will start to visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and The Kumbum. In the afternoon we will drive to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. You can go to see the Local Tibetan Market and experience local daily life there.




Day 11 Shigatse to Lhasa (B)
 

After breakfast, we will go to visit today’s highlight--Tashilunpo monastery. Tashilhunpo, one of Tibet's most important monasteries, is a Geluk monastery in Shigatse that was founded in 1447 by the First Dalai Lama Gendun Drub.

 

In the afternoon, we will drive back to Lhasa. there is no problem to view the splendid sights on the way.




Day 12 Lhasa Departure (B)
 

Your guide will pick you up and transfer you to the airport or train station according to your schedule, finishing the meaningful tour.
